100 Plates Locals Love 2016

Georgia’s one-of-a-kind restaurants serve up memorable meals that satisfy every craving. Explore Georgia pulled together a list of local Georgia dishes that will speak to your soul (and your appetite). The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Tourism division has created a guide 100 Plates Locals Love 2016.  Nominations were collected online in November 2015 and evaluated by a panel of judges, who selected the final list of 100 Plates Locals Love 2016.

Here are the eighteen metro Atlanta restaurants that were honored to be included in 100 Plates Locals Love 2016.

  • The General Muir in Emory neighborhood – try the Poutine, Chicken gravy poured over hand-cut French fries
  • Thompson Brothers BBQ in Smyrna – try The Whole Nine, a sampler featuring hickory wood–smoked chopped brisket, spare ribs, beef sausage, and bologna
  • One Flew South in College Park at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – try The Dirty South, an open-face meatloaf sandwich served on Texas toast with pimento cheese
  • Rathbun’s in Inman Park – try the 20 oz. Cowboy Ribeye served with blue cheese butter and onion rings.
  • Bite Bistro & Bar in Alpharetta – try the Short Rib Torchetti, paired with wild mushrooms, balsamic glazed tomatoes, arugula, and a Marsala demi glace
  • Watershed on Peachtree in Buckhead – try the Chicken and Dumplings
  • Antico Pizza in West Midtown – try the Margherita pizza
  • Gumbeaux’s Cajun Café in Douglasville – try Ya Ya’s Sesame Salmon
  • Epicurean Cafe in Duluth – try the Asian-Style Sticky Chicken
  • The Peachtree Cafe in Lawrenceville – try the Sweet Potato Waffles
  • Chicken & the Egg in Marietta – try the Fried Chicken + Biscuits
  • KirbyG’s Diner & Pub, McDonough – try the “Old Blue Eyes” Black & Blue Burger
  • Roux on Canton in Roswell – try the Crawfish Risotto
  • Canton Cooks in Sandy Springs – try the Salt and Pepper Squid
  • R & M Sandwich Shop in Canton – try Donna’s Special, a unique and delicious sandwich
  • Reel Seafood in Woodstock – try the Sweet Chili Glazed Swordfish Steak
  • Fleur-de-Lis at Chateau Elan in Braselton  – try the Two Lump Crab Cakes
  • Coco’s Cuban Restaurant in Cumming – try the Cuban Sandwich
