Heritage BBQ Atlanta

Heritage BBQ Atlanta is a culinary competition featuring five chefs cooking five whole, heritage breed pigs with global flavors and timeless cooking techniques. Each competing chef will be given a 180-200 pound heritage breed pig and tasked to create, prepare and present a “Judge’s Plate” of 6 dishes scored on utilization, global influences, cooking techniques and overall flavor; then the winner will be crowned the “BBQ King”. For the first time on tour, competing chefs have formed into Culinary Supergroups – drawn from Atlanta’s notable chef community – to face off during the whole-pig competition. Heritage BBQ Atlanta will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 4-7 p.m.

The Heritage BBQ Atlanta all-inclusive ticket includes “BBQ Traditions” – our fringe festival of flavor – where notable chefs prepare dishes from their favorite BBQ culture in the spirit of collective feasting. Beyond the 30 chef-competitor dishes – some 1,500 pounds of heritage pork from family farms – guests can nosh on dozens of smoke-kissed, Old and New World barbecue preparations from Korean and African Braai to Asador and regional American styles. Other spreads include farmhouse cheeses; a Tomahawk Bar of 4-pound ribeyes from Creekstone Farms served with magnums of Faust Cabernet; and a Pop-up Pie Shop.

Heritage BBQ Atlanta competition teams include chef Terry Koval of Wrecking Bar, chef Nick Melvin of Venkman’s, chef Kevin Rathbun of Rathbun’s Restaurants, chef Ford Fry of Rocket Farm Restaurants, chef Hector Santiago of El Super Pan.

The event is all-inclusive, cost of general admission is $100, VIP tickets are $150 for one hour early admission.
