Vote for your Favorite Main Street in Atlanta

Main Streets are really the heartbeat of America’s cities and towns. They play an important part in the long-term success of communities and really help build a sense of place. When Main Streets are strong, so are the communities that surround them. What’s your favorite Main Street in metro Atlanta?

The goal of the America’s Main Streets contest is to help promote the importance and strong economic benefits of these Main Streets and the small businesses that help them thrive. Please help by nominating and telling them about a deserving Main Street. The winning Main Street will receive $25,000 in cash and related prizes to help revitalize that Main Street.

Current metro Atlanta towns that have been nominated include Avondale Estates, Canton, Stone Mountain, Duluth, Norcross and Woodstock. Anyone is eligible to nominate a Main Street including formal Main Street and business organizations, business owners and local residents. So you still have time to nominate and vote for your favorite Main Street in metro Atlanta.

The Contest is comprised of three phases. Contest judging will be by public voting, in addition to a panel of qualified judges.

Phase I: Nominations are being taken and voting accepted between March 1, 2016 at 10am and midnight on April 24, 2016. Those wishing to nominate a Main Street should go to, and follow the instructions to submit a nomination or to vote.Individuals may cast one vote each day for their favorite Main Street. The 25 towns that receive the highest number of public votes will be deemed the quarterfinalists.

Phase II: Voting for Semifinalists takes place between May 2, 2016 and May 29, 2016 at midnight. During the Semifinalist Voting Period, Voters may cast one vote each day for his/her favorite Main Street. The ten (10) Main Streets that receive the highest number of public votes will be deemed the Semifinalists.

Phase III: On June 2nd, a panel of Contest Judges will judge and rate the ten Semifinalists. The Semifinalists whose Submission received the highest rating from the Contest Judges will be deemed to be the winner of the grand prize

Main Street America is a program of the nonprofit National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
